Our Family-Teacher Partnership

Our Family Teacher Association “FTA” is a registered Non-Profit Organisation (Registration NP-669) and works to further strengthen the school’s ties with our families, to build on our ethos of open communication and community atmosphere.

We believe that families are children’s first educators, they form a vital part of any child’s learning, from early years through to the end of their formal school/college education and believe that if schools and families work together with a focus on a child’s happiness and educational progress, the child will thrive.

With that in mind we have identified 6 core functions for the FTA as follows:

 1.      Facilitating communication

2.      Bringing the community together

3.      Providing resources and support

4.      Building school spirit

5.      Fostering Community Service

6.      Welcoming new families

You can read more about each of these in the FTA Framework which also contains a lot of useful information about the organisation of the FTA and the FTA Executive Committee. Click here to access the full Framework.

All families with children at Island Primary and all teachers and learning assistants will become members of the FTA automatically.  There will be an Annual General Meeting at the start of each academic year which families are strongly encouraged to attend.  There will also be lots of opportunities for families to get involved in the various projects and initiatives of the FTA throughout the year.
