Our Purpose

To provide a dynamic learning community committed to actively engaging with, and contributing to, an ever-changing and diverse local and global society.

About Island Primary

Island Primary was born from the aspiration to provide students and families with exceptional educational opportunities in the Cayman Islands that reflect the true essence of our culture and the spirit of our local community. Founded in 2022, Island Primary is a primary school offering classes from Reception through Year 6 with a strong British curriculum, customised for our students to learn, grow and excel.

Rooted in Cayman, Island Primary nurtures a strong sense of community and embraces our island setting. Our school is sustainably designed and nature learning is core to our programme. In the spirit of CaymanKind, we are creating a warm, welcoming environment where every child can thrive.

Message from the Principal

On behalf of our outstanding team, it’s a real pleasure and privilege to welcome you to Island Primary, a newly established community of learners committed to providing opportunities and experiences for each individual to become the very best version of themselves.

I am so proud of our journey to this point, a journey founded on hard work, collaboration, trust and a unified sense of purpose in seeking to provide a dynamic learning community committed to actively engaging with and contributing to an ever-changing and diverse local and global society.

Inspired by our environmental, societal, and cultural surroundings and coupled with a strong belief in the importance of remaining connected to each, Island Primary seeks to nurture caring, responsible and appreciative citizens who value individuality while being drawn to become an integral part of something bigger than themselves.

Using the revised British Curriculum (2014) to guide us, we are driven to ensure our children reach their full potential through a well-balanced, engaging and relevant programme of study integrating a wide variety of disciplines as part of a flexible and adaptable learning pathway. We recognize that our children come to school with their own passions, predispositions and preferences as learners and it is with these in mind that our dedicated and highly qualified staff work to establish a network of learning within a school designed around this philosophy, where knowledge, skills and understanding are shared and celebrated surrounded by a welcoming and supportive community. Resilience, effort, and courage are as welcome as curiosity, confidence and invention at Island Primary, and we’ll certainly look to these qualities and more as we continue to innovate and evolve as a school community.

Once again, welcome! We’re very much looking forward to striding into our future, to growing our community and to shaping our identity, together. I hope you can join us on this journey. Let’s get started!

-Steve Coles, Island Primary Principal
